Real World Reminders
Financial Fraud
Due to the increase of reported incidents in the holiday period, the Police would like to alert residents to fraudsters attempting to obtain details of bank and credit cards to steal money from accounts. Financial abuse is becoming more common but not because of scams, it is actually being carried out by families or friends of victims.

For more information please visit Action Fraud website.
City of London Police non-emergency numbers: 101 and 0207 601 2222 (24 hours).

HMRC are also sending out a customer alerts. Please see here for details.

Key Permissions
Please ensure you keep your key permissions up to date at both the Estate Office and with your Porter or Concierge as appropriate. Keys will not be released from the Barbican Estate Office unless permission has been given by the resident and is recorded on our permissions log.

* Please also respond timely to requests for key access from the estate office in order for our staff and contractors to carry out work and/or investigations.

Please also ensure that keys left at reception are clearly labelled with flat numbers and blocks. The reception team would also appreciate it if residents giving key permissions, state the exact duration of the permission as well as whether the resident allows the key to be kept overnight. For example, if you had given your builder(s) key permission and the work is now complete, best practice would be to either initially state the duration or ask for them to be removed from your key permissions later.

Clarity helps with security.

Barbican Centre Updates
Sound Unbound 2019 – Lakeside Terrace performances
Saturday 18–Sunday 19 May

Sound Unbound, the Barbican's free weekend-long celebration of classical music, returns this spring on Saturday 18 – Sunday 19 May. The festival features over 100 short performances in a relaxed festival atmosphere where informality is key. The festival this year will also explore unexpected spaces across Culture Mile, which stretches from Farringdon to Moorgate in the north-west of the Square Mile. The great history and variety of music will be mirrored in the architecture, as concerts take place in more than 20 unique venues, in and around the Barbican Centre.

Some of the performances will be taking place on the Lakeside Terrace so nearby blocks (Gilbert House and Defoe House) have received a notice explaining what to expect. We now have more details about the activity timings, including set-up and sound-checks, so you can view an updated version of the notice on our residents page at www.barbican.org.uk/residents (under 'Notices').

We hope you are able to enjoy the many activities taking place across the Barbican Centre, and you can find full programme details at www.barbican.org.uk/soundunbound
